Peel back the layers of lower Manhattan’s past and explore its newest architecture on a tour of world famous and lesser-known monuments and buildings that will reshape your concept of downtown New York.
Our tour begins at the African Burial Ground National Monument, a rediscovered burial ground for thousands of enslaved and free Africans during the 17th century. We’ll take in the neighborhood’s monumental court and civic buildings and compare the Woolworth Building – one of the city’s first skyscrapers – to downtown’s most striking new tower - ‘New York by Gehry.’ Further stops will include St Paul’s - New York’s only surviving colonial-era chapel, Santiago Calatrava’s controversial 2016 World Trade Center Transportation Hub, and the 9/11 Memorial.
