Merrily Kerr is an art critic and writer based in New York. She writes art criticism for Time Out New York and has published in international art magazines including Art on Paper, Flash Art, Art Asia Pacific, Art Review, and Tema Celeste. Her essays have appeared in catalogues for shows including Tobias Putrih at the Laumeier Sculpture Park, Cheryl Yun at the University of St Louis, MO, and Torben Giehler at Centre de Arte de Salamanca, Spain.
Merrily’s guest lectures have included talks at the Bronx Museum’s ‘Artists in the Marketplace’ (AIM) program and the Weatherspoon Art Museum’s Art on Paper Biennial. She is a continuing education instructor at Cooper Union and a lecturer at Marymount Manhattan College.
As the founder of Merrily Kerr New York Art Tours, Merrily leads individuals and groups on trips of cultural discovery in New York’s galleries and museums. She has crafted personalized tours for corporate groups, collectors, artists, and student groups from Texas Woman’s University, Parsons School of Design, Chicago’s Moody Institute and other institutions. The Tennis Channel, UK-based Axis Arts, and EBC Communications have made video or audio recordings of her tours.
Merrily regularly posts contemporary art exhibition reviews on video to her website, www.NewYorkArtTours.com. Recent reviews have included Olaf Breuning at Metro Pictures, Betty Woodman at Max Protetch Gallery, and Tobias Buche at Lehmann Maupin Gallery.
