{"id":9842,"date":"2022-05-28T11:00:54","date_gmt":"2022-05-28T15:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newyorkarttours.com\/blog\/?p=9842"},"modified":"2025-02-09T20:20:48","modified_gmt":"2025-02-10T01:20:48","slug":"paulo-nazareth-at-mendes-wood-dm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newyorkarttours.com\/blog\/2022\/05\/28\/paulo-nazareth-at-mendes-wood-dm\/","title":{"rendered":"Paulo Nazareth at Mendes Wood DM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Positioned on the floor of <a href=\"https:\/\/mendeswooddm.com\/artists\/\">Mendes Wood DM\u2019s<\/a> new Tribeca gallery space, Brazilian artist Paulo Nazareth\u2019s water-filled glass vessels and sand-filled ceramic dishes look vulnerable to a careless visitor\u2019s foot, yet each one is a container for something more fragile &#8211; a tiny replica of a ship.\u00a0 Accompanied by a cast-iron sink, its top painted with a globe, the vases, jugs, glasses and dishes appear to represent travel on the earth\u2019s land and seas; the term \u2018nau\u2019 in the title referring to the masted sailing ships used from the 14<sup>th<\/sup> century by the Portuguese.
