Based in Beijing but frequently traveling to exhibit her artwork, Yin Xiuzhen was inspired to turn suitcases into ceiling-mounted mini-cities now on view at Pace Gallery<\/a> in Chelsea.\u00a0 Working with second-hand clothing from the city she\u2019s depicting, she has constructed small-scale versions of urban landscapes and architecture from around the world.\u00a0 Both deeply personal\u00a0 – made from a material that expresses many individuals\u2019 personal tastes and circumstances \u2013 and representing architecture \u2018owned\u2019 by an entire city of citizens, Yin Xiuzhen connects individual and collective experience in a global framework.\u00a0 (On view through June 26th. <\/sup>Masks and social distancing required.)<\/p>\n
