Created in Hangzhou, China last summer and now on display just outside of New York City at the Nassau County Museum<\/a> of Art\u2019s \u2018Blue<\/a>\u2019 exhibition, Han Qin<\/a>\u2019s \u2018The Direction of Migration<\/a>\u2019 was inspired by the artist\u2019s own journeys between China and Long Island.\u00a0 Using a cyanotype process that involves exposing treated paper to sunlight, Han Qin \u2013 a professional dancer who choreographed a dance to accompany this work \u2013 arranged emigrant friends in dance poses on the paper.\u00a0 Ethereal and suggesting natural upward movement, the piece pictures hopeful journeys.\u00a0 (On view through Nov 1st<\/sup>.\u00a0 Tickets must be purchased in advance).<\/p>\n
