Lynda Benglis<\/a>\u2019 nature-inspired forms, crafted in a variety of materials from bronze to chicken wire, perch on floor and walls in Pace Gallery<\/a>\u2019s handsome retrospective of work from the early 70s to 2024.\u00a0 Titled, \u2018Knotting, Tying, Folding,\u2019 the show features dynamic, looping shapes with evocative titles like \u2018Striking Cobra,\u2019 a thick curve of metal with a projecting end, or \u2018Sparkle Devil,\u2019 a pink and purple cornucopia decorated with cast glitter. \u00a0Here, \u2018Yellow Tail\u2019 makes one of many references to fish in the show \u2013 growing up in Louisiana, Benglis had her own boat \u2013 but the artist has also cited her grandmother\u2019s crocheting as inspiration for the exhibition\u2019s weighty bronze sculptures that monumentalize the minute forms necessary to create a textile.\u00a0 (On view in Chelsea through Oct 24th<\/sup>).<\/p>\n
