For energy and pleasure, few current Tribeca exhibitions can best Meg Lipke<\/a>\u2019s exhibition of fiber-stuffed shaped paintings at Broadway Gallery<\/a>.\u00a0 In her works\u2019 vibrant color and inventive form, Lipke expresses kinship to her artistic forebears, pointing out Howardena Pindell\u2019s late \u201860s soft grid composed of rolled up canvas segments, Ree Morton\u2019s inventive combination of painting and objects and Elizabeth Murray\u2019s shaped canvases as influences.\u00a0 Here, the huge 8\u2019 x 16\u2019 \u2018Slanting Grid\u2019 could easily dominate the gallery but acts more subtly, its pastel tones and mostly soft forms drawing in visitors while three triangles at bottom and its insistent rightward lean direct attention away.\u00a0 (On view in Tribeca through Dec 13th<\/sup>).<\/p>\n
