Jane Lombard Gallery<\/a>\u2019s summer group show \u2018Soft Structures\u2019 is an immediate \u2018wow,\u2019 enticing visitors with ten textile-centric artists\u2019 inventive use of materials.\u00a0 \u00a0At the show\u2019s entrance, Woomin Kim<\/a>\u2019s huge soft sculpture of fingertips with wildly decorated nails charms with its humor and vibrant color.\u00a0 Nearby, Crystal Gregory\u2019s knit cotton and silk netting, embedded with pewter and cast in concrete pits the various strengths of textile, metal and concrete while Elodie Blanchard creates pleasingly wonky \u2018ceramic\u2019 vessel forms from fabric, leather and mylar balloon.\u00a0 As summer group shows are increasingly replaced by solo shows in New York galleries, this exhibition argues for the vitality of the group showcase. \u00a0(Curated by independent curator Jen Wroblewski<\/a>.
