Inspired by a Grand Canyon rafting trip in 2021, New York photographer Sally Gall<\/a> focused on the rugged landscapes of the Colorado Plateau to make \u2018Vertical World\u2019 a series of striking photos now on view at Winston Wachter Gallery<\/a> in Chelsea.\u00a0 While Gall\u2019s more recent photo series have featured man-made objects seen from surprising angles \u2013 laundry-lines from underneath that look like flowers, distant kites in the sky which appear to be flat, abstract designs \u2013 her new work gives attention to the natural colors and patterns of rock surfaces.\u00a0 The title of this piece, \u2018Visitor,\u2019 draws our attention to a small cactus in the foreground of the photo, a curvy interloper in the geometric barrenness of a vast wall of rock.\u00a0 (On view through July 18th<\/sup> in Chelsea.\u00a0 Note summer hours.)<\/p>\n
