Berlin and Mexico City-based artist Beatriz Morales<\/a>\u2019s monumental hanging fiber artwork \u2018Quimera\u2019 dominates Praxis Art\u2019s<\/a> Chelsea gallery like a living wall of color and undulating form.\u00a0 The cascading agave fibers that give the artwork such dynamism nod to Mexico\u2019s history with this material prior to the introduction of synthetics and are dyed with natural substances native to the country.\u00a0 Described as \u20183D brushstrokes\u2019 by the gallery, the fiber bunches join abstractions on the jute surface that suggest eyes, ancient wall paintings, maps and more.\u00a0 (On view in Chelsea through July 5th<\/sup>).<\/p>\n
