Right on the heels of a show of photographer Berenice Abbott\u2019s Greenwich Village portraits and urban landscapes at Chelsea\u2019s Marlborough Gallery<\/a>, fans of the iconic early 20th<\/sup> century New York City chronicler can enjoy the Metropolitan Museum of Ar<\/a>t\u2019s new exhibition of images from Abbott\u2019s 1929 album shot around town.\u00a0 Freshly back from an eight year-long stay in Paris where she pivoted to photography and established her own successful studio, Abbott arrived in New York and enthusiastically fell to documenting the thriving city as she found it.\u00a0 Also included in the Met\u2019s show are works by Abbott\u2019s contemporaries and her \u2018Changing New York\u2019 series from \u201935-\u201939, including this view of a 9th<\/sup> Ave Automat. (On view on the Upper East Side through Sept 4th<\/sup>).<\/p>\n
