While quarantining during the COVID-19 pandemic in Normandy, late British painter David Hockney kept his iPad at the ready, producing drawings in and around his 17th century house and 12-acre farm. Now on view at Pace Gallery, a selection of nighttime scenes created from April to Dec ‘20 feature shadows cast by trees from a bright, low July moon and warmly lit windows on a cool October night. Presented in a darkened gallery at Pace, the spotlit scenes are printed on paper but retain the bright digital glow that infuses each landscape with light. (On view in Chelsea through Aug 14th).
