Helen Marden, ‘Interlude of Joy’ at Gagosian Gallery

Breeze, Serenade, Frog Hop and here, Patter I, are among the titles of Helen Marden’s watercolor paintings at Gagosian Gallery, pastel-toned compositions that convey movement through swift lines and bright pastel color.  Larger canvases employ resin to affix pigment and organic material – leaves, shells – to the surface of swirling abstractions in a show appropriately titled ‘Interlude of Joy.’ (On view at Gagosian Gallery through Aug 21st).

An abstract pattern of curving lines in pink, blue, yellow, orange and more colors.
